The Franklin-Simpson Lady Cats' golf team wrapped up their season with a fifth-place finish in the Region 3 Golf tournament at Crosswinds Golf Course in Bowling Green on Sept. 30.
"The girls did a great job at region," Lady Cats head coach Sarah Dinwiddie said. "They didn't have their best performance, but with the heat and pace of play I was very pleased with how they did. Maddie had a season low 18 hole score. I can't believe the season has already come to and end, the girls have really improved and all have met and exceeded the goals that they set for themselves this year."
The Lady Cats finished the tournament with a score of 376 with senior Hannah Clark leading the team with a score of 91.
"Tough day today for all of us," Hannah Clark said. "I wished I could have done better in my final tournament for the golf team. Playing 18 holes today was fun but I am glad I got to do it with my girls, Meredith (Raby) and Coach Sarah over my four years. I have made some wonderful friendships for life."
Freshman Conleigh Wilson fired a score of 92 with senior Anne Reid Forshee shooting a score of 95.
"I think I put too much pressure on myself heading into today. With the way I played here the last time when he had match play, I had some high expectations," Conleigh Wilson. "Today, I just struggled from all areas but it wasn't a bad day but not my best day."
"Not my best day but it was fun being a part of the tournament and we finished in the top 5," Anne Reid Forshee said. "I think today was the best feeling because as a team, we won a tournament this season and a great finish at the region so I am happy with the way things ended."
Senior Chloe Mylor chipped in with a score of 98 and junior Maddie Hall rounded out the scorecard with a score of 100.
"I could have done better today," Chloe Mylor said. "Had some rough spots to hit from after my drives and should have putted better. But today was fun and it was the same score I shot in last year's region tournament."
"It was the best 18 hole score I ever had so I am pleased with how things went today," Maddie Hall said. "I was nervous, which I am always nervous before any match or tournament, but this was my first ever region tournament."
South Warren Lady Spartans won the Region 3 Golf Tournament with a score of 306. Lady Spartans' junior Faith Martin won the tournament with a score of 70.
The top seven individual players that qualified for state were: Glasgow's Abbie Lee, who shot a score of 71, and teammate Allie McCoy, who shot a 76.
