Franklin-Simpson Lady Cat softball graduate Madison Davis was selected to the Second Team All-State 2-A Team by the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association.
"I don't think about the awards or the recognition. I just go out there and work for my team and the stats will fall in line," Madison Davis said. "But the award does mean a lot. It'sgreat to end my career and head into college knowing that I was selected to an all-state team. It's a good accomplishment."
Davis, who plays as an infielder and pitcher, helped lead the Lady Cats to an overall record of 20-18, a 13th District Tournament runner-up and to the semifinals of the 4th Region Softball Tournament during the 2019 season.
"I don't know how much of a better year she could have had," Lady Cats head coach Todd Caudill said. "I'm really glad that the coaches around the state recognized her for that. She is such a well rounded athlete and really played well against some very good teams and that helped her in being selected. Hate to see her go but I am very happy that she had the season she had. She loves every aspect of the game. She brought the same work ethic and challenged herself to get better every day and it all paid off for her."
She pitched in 30 games with 15 wins, struck out 205 opposing batters in 152.2 innings pitched and posted an earned run average of 2.57.
At the plate, she led the team in hits with 61, doubles with 20 and a batting average of .545. She hit four home runs with 33 runs batted in and scored 30 runs.
Davis will play collegiate softball at Campbellsville University.
