The Franklin-Simpson Lady Cats Golf Team won their first match play meet of the season over the Warren East Lady Raiders at Diamond Caverns Resort and Golf Club in Park City last Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Cats won 141-169 as the top three scores only counted in this match. Freshman Conleigh Wilson led the team with a score of 46 and seniors Anne Reid Forshee carded a 47 and Hannah Clark and Meredith Raby both fired a score of 48.
"It was bitter sweet playing my last, first match with my favorite girls," Hannah Clark said. "We've all grown so close these past few years. We didn't play our best but we still came out with a win with Meredith (Raby) chipping in a birdie in the match."
Senior Chloe Mylor and sophomore Maddie Hall each scored a 52 in the nine-hole match.
"Match went very well at Diamond Caverns," Lady Cats' head coach Sarah Dinwiddie said. "Everyone played well despite a tough course."
The lady Cats have a couple of match play meets with Bowling Green and Greenwood before hosting the Lady Cats' Invitational at the Franklin Country Club on Aug. 24.
