The Franklin-Simpson Lady Cats' golf team competed in their final match play meet of the season when they played the Greenwood Lady Gators at Paul Walker Golf Course last Wednesday afternoon.
Using the top four scores only of the golfers, the Lady Cats were defeated by the Lady Gators 187-190. Freshman Conleigh Wilson led the team with a nine-hole score of 42 with senior Hannah Clark firing a 48.
Junior Maddie Hall had her best round of the season in match play with a score of 49.
"Today was good as I got my personal best, record low score of 49," Hall said. "The season has flown by, but we have another tournament to play to get us ready region. I'm sure that we will get some practice time at Cross Winds to prepare us."
Seniors Meredith Raby fired a score of 51 with Chloe Mylor shooting a score of 59.
"I did my best here at Paul Walker and got a pretty good round out of it," Raby said. "It's not my record best round by any means but I enjoyed the girls I played with for a pretty good round of golf. I can't believe this is my last match play event. I've been playing for Franklin-Simpson when we didn't have a full team but it has been a lot of fun."
"I didn't play my best today and I should have played better," Mylor said. "Everything wasn't working together today but we got a tournament at Christian County. We just need to be ready for the region tournament."
Senior Anne Reid Forshee did not compete due to a wrist injury. The Lady Cats competes in the Christian County Invitational coming up which will be the final tournament to prepare for the regional tournament on Sept. 30 at Crosswinds Golf Course.
