Troy Wilson won the 2019 Franklin Country Club Championship by defeating Hunter Bowen in the 36 hole match play championship.
This was a rematch of the 2018 Championship as both golfers reached the final for the second year in a row. This was the third title for Wilson while Bowen was also trying to win his third title. Wilson won his first championship in 2014 and again in 2016 while Bowen won in 2004 and defeated Wilson last year. Wilson came out strong and never relinquished the lead. Wilson was 5 up after the first 7 holes, however, Bowne cut the lead down to three after the first nine. Wilson increased the lead to 4 up through 16 holes, but Bowen was able to cut it back to a two hole deficit after the first 18 holes. Wilson continued his steady play and increased his lead to 4 up after 27 holes and went on to win the match five holes up with four to play. To reach the finals of the championship flight, Wilson defeated Eric Wilson in round one, Steve Haxelip in round two and Brandon Wilson in the semi-finals. Bowen advanced with wins over Bronson Norwood in round one, Kevin Gilbert in round two and Shawn Killen in the semi-finals.
Darrell Kington defeated Kenny Holman to win the first flight for the second consecutive year. Kington advanced to the finals with wins over Miek Kinder, Ryan Kivett and Todd Caudill, while Holman advanced with wins over Dewayne Mayhew, Dennie Murray and Scott Brown.
Austin Johnson defeated Al Thacker to take top honors in the second flight. Johnson reached the finals with wins over Kevin Deaton, Chuck Neely and Mike Swift, while Thacker advanced with wins over Joey Kilburn, Matt Wilhite and Time Chubb.
Charlie Hill Defeated Wes Marklin to win the third flight. Hill advanced to the finals with victories over Barry Gregory, Robert Fuller and Time Summers, while Marklin advanced with wins over John Law and Ty Murray.
