The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats football team is preparing for another run at the Class 4-A Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl State Championship.
With the kickoff to the 2019 season beginning on Aug. 23, the Wildcats will have their football camp this Thursday through Saturday.
Franklin-Simpson will scrimmage with a pair of teams from Owensboro with the Owensboro Red Devils, from Class 5-A, on Aug. 9 and the Apollo Eagles, from Class 6-A, on Aug. 16. Both games will be at James "Shadetree" Mathews Stadium at Hugh Crowdus Field. Scrimmage times have not yet been finalized.
On Aug. 10, the annual "Howl at the Moon" event will take place on the downtown square beginning at 5 p.m. where everyone can meet the 2019 Wildcats' football teams, coaches, cheer and dance team.
The defending state champions open the regular season when they host the Greenwood Gators, from Class 5-A, on Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. 1220 WFKN Franklin radio will broadcast Wildcat football games all season long and on the internet courtesy of network1sports.com.
