After tying for the second-best 54-hole score in program history, former Franklin-Simpson Lady Cat and sophomore Lady Topper golfer Mary Joiner was named Conference USA Co-Women's Golfer of the Week by the league office last Wednesday, March 7.
This is Joiner and the Lady Toppers' first weekly honor of the season, but the third of Joiner's career. She won the award twice as a freshman following a pair of tournament victories.
She finished third this week in a field with multiple top-100 individuals at North Florida's UNF Collegiate Golf Tournament, shooting a four under, total score of 212 at the par-72, 5,926-yard Jacksonville Golf and Country Club and tying her own career low previously reached in September at the USA Intercollegiate.
Joiner's score of 212 was just one stroke off Ellinor Haag's program record of 211 set in 2014. She now owns three of the top four 54-hole scores in Lady Topper history.
She went a combined nine under on par-5's throughout the tournament including seven under over the first two rounds. This is the fourth top-three performance of her career.
Joiner set a new career low for 36 holes at 142 through two rounds, and her opening-round 69 tied her season low. During the tournament, she had 36 pars, 10 birdies and an eagle.
