The Coronavirus pandemic has officially affected the Franklin-Simpson sports spring season. Due to Governor Andy Beshear’s declaration of shutting down private and public schools for the next two weeks, Simpson County Schools will be closed for the next three weeks, impacting the start of spring sports.

Postponed sports include baseball, softball and track and field — all facing start delays until after April 13, which is the first day Simpson County Schools plans to return to session.

According to Franklin-Simpson Athletic Director Matt Wilhite, all spring sports will cease at this point while the school system is closed. They will keep everyone updated as far as scheduling and how the spring sports seasons will play out once they get underway.

Tennis will not be impacted by the closing of schools because their season does not start until April 14 when they host the Allen County-Scottsville Patriots at the Jim Roberts Community Park for boys and girls singles and doubles matches.
