The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats’ Golf Team won their first tri-match and second match play event of the season last Thursday at the Scottsville Country Club.
The Wildcats, who had a team score of 150, defeated the Allen County-Scottsville Patriots by 12 strokes (162) and the Barren County Trojans by 22 strokes (172).
Senior Dalton Fiveash led the team with a nine-hole score of 34.
“I shot one under and struggled with the first two holes,” Fiveash said. “I could have made a few more putts and could have shot three or maybe four under. One under is pretty good considering that I don’t play out here that much but I will take one under par any day. Key was to hit the fairways and greens and you can score or two putt for pars.”
Junior Chase Wilson shot a score of 37 with senior Dawson Owens chipped in with a score of 38 with junior Ben Banton firing a score of 41.
Other Wildcats scores were from senior Jake Konow with a 44 and sophomore Connor Vincent firing a score of 45.
“I struggled on my drives but my chipping and putting was really good for my first time on this course,” Vincent said. “I had to learn as I played as this was the first time playing on this course. Tee boxes were rough as I didn’t know where to aim or hit. This was a really tough course but I feel like I had a good day.”
