Franklin-Simpson Lady Cats’ volleyball players senior Alera Barbee (left), junior Alyssa Spears (middle) and senior Carly Bush (right) were selected to the 13th District Volleyball all-Season team last Tuesday night at the district volleyball tournament.

At the end of the 13th District Volleyball Tournament at Logan County High School, the 13th District All-Season Team was revealed.

The team was selected by the four head coaches in the district, including Jerred Long from Franklin-Simpson, Caleb Sheffield from Logan County, Jennifer Howard from Russellville and Stephanie Conquest from Todd County Central.

Franklin-Simpson seniors Alera Barbee, Carly Bush and junior Alyssa Spears were selected to the all-season team.

“Pretty exciting considering that this is my last year,” Barbee said. “I am proud of my teammates especially Alyssa (Spears) who built my confidence to play on the back row. I am so appreciative and glad of Coach (Jerred) Long and his staff.”

“I am really excited to be selected. All the coaches pushed me to be my best,” Bush said. “This is a big deal for me because I didn’t even know that I was going to be able to play this season. Just the thought of getting this award makes me proud. I never thought I would get this far when I came back to play.”

“I never thought that I would be selected from the coaches to be part of the district all-season team,” Spears said. “I am excited that I get another year to play, but I am going to miss my six seniors. They made me the best that I can be and the person or volleyball player I am without them. Now, I have to be a mentor for the new young players next season and have an impact on them like the seniors had on me.”

Other players selected to the all-season team include: seniors Emily Burress and Zoe Steenbergen and sophomores Rachel Dezarn and Summer Price from Logan County. Senior Chloe Whitescarver and sophomore Kilby Long from Russellville and sophomores: Lanie Bivins, Lucy Chester and Addileigh Wofford from Todd County Central.
