Early in the year 2017, Logan County hosted the Russellville Panthers. Russellville won the game 82-78. Nobody in the gym on January 30, 2017 could have imagined that it would be one day shy of four years before the Panthers would beat the Cougars on the hardwood again. On Friday night, Russellville did just that. The final in overtime was 56-50.

The Clash of the Cats started with the ladies hitting the court for the opening game. The Lady Panthers were able to hang on to win, 47-36. A’miyah Collier led Russellville with 13 points. Senior Chloe Whitescarver scored most of her 12 points in the critical third quarter. Brinley Mason and Anastasia Dowlen finished with nine each.

For the Lady Cougars, Gracie Borders had a good night with 14 points. She sank three 3-pointers. Emily Borders and Sierra Seiber each had six on the night. Abby Hinton and Emerson McKinnis finished with three a piece.

The game was close throughout most of the evening. At the end of the first, it was 10-6 Russellville. The ladies went into the break at 22-17. By the start of the final frame, the Lady Panthers held the narrow lead, 33-27. The final was 47-36.

The Lady Panthers (4-5) slide up to (2-1) in district play. The Lady Cougars (1-9) remain at (1-2) in the 13th District.

Logan County had a slight edge throughout the boys game. At the end of the first, it was 12-10 in favor of the Cougars. Russellville stayed close and trailed 26-29 going into halftime. Jaquis Todd scored seven in the third period and helped the Panthers take a 37-35 lead going into the 4th. Russellville had a chance to close out the game in the 4th quarter, but only made 3-of-11 free throws in the period. Rooster Woodard hit a 3-pointer just before the buzzer to send the game into overtime at 50 each.

The overtime period belonged to the Panthers. The Cougars failed to score and Russellville won 56-50.

Rooster Woodard scored 35 points for the Cougars.

Jaquis Todd finished with 24 points for Russellville. Xavier Coleman had 12 in the win.

The Panthers (5-3) move to (2-1) in the district. The Cougars (1-5) are (1-2) in the 13th District.
