Most will agree that Adolf Hitler was a very evil person. He and his Nazi followers were instrumental in the murder of over six million human beings. Since 1973 our own country has murdered over 61.8 million human beings, so what does that say about our country? Most will say, if you are referring to abortions, that is not murder, because a fetus is not a human being. As with all matters concerning life and righteousness, let us look to God’s Word for the truth.
God speaking to Jeremiah said, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou came out of the womb I sanctified thee a prophet unto the nations (Jer. 1:5). Thou has covered me in my mothers womb; I will praise thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:13-14). Then when we read of the salutation of Mary to Elizabeth and the baby jumping in her womb in Luke 1:39-44, there can be no doubt that the life in the womb is indeed a human child. “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers, all things were created by Him and for Him, He is before all things and by Him all things consist” (Col. 1:16-17). Then we must rightly conclude, by His Holy Word, that God definitely considers a child in the womb, a living person of His own creation.
So in light of what we have learned, what does God have to say about taking a person’s life? First of all God says, “You shall not murder” (Exo. 20:13 Rom. 13:9) There are times killing another human being is justified, such as in war or in defense of one’s own life or another one’s life. Murder is the taking of human life without just cause. God hates and it is an abomination to Him for anyone to shed innocent blood (Prov. 6:17). There can be no more horrendous act than killing an unborn child, who is a completely innocent person.
What about those who agree with and support the shedding of innocent blood? God has something to say about that also. Anyone who supports or greets an evil doer, who has not God, becomes a partaker or partner in his evil deeds (II John 1:11). Many, who claim to be Christians, support politicians who support abortion and can see nothing wrong with this practice. No one can be for good and for evil at the same time. We must either follow God and be His servant, or we are supporting Satan as his servant, for no one can serve two masters (Matt. 6:24). Abortion is a most horrific gruesome act that is an abomination to God and no Christian should support it, in any form or fashion.
