Extreme weather could be on its way soon, according to Russellville Rural Fire Chief Cheryl Allen and the department she serves is opening up the fire station located off the bypass in Russellville for those who find themselves without adequate heat or shelter.

“If you find yourself needing shelter or you don’t have heat, please let us know,” said Allen. “We have cots and heat at the fire station and our house is your house.”

Allen further stated that the people in the community have supported the fire department through the years and she and the firefighters truly appreciate it and want to give that support back.

“If you need help, we can help. Please do not hesitate to call if you need shelter through this cold spell,” said Allen.

According to WBKO, there is a 60% chance of winter weather in the viewing area for Thursday, Feb. 11 with temperatures as low as 23.
