Five years pretrial diversion was approved in two cases Monday, Jan. 12 in Simpson Circuit Court.

 An Alford guilty plea was entered by Barbara Gosnell, 46, of Franklin, in one case to a charge of theft by unlawful taking. She was ordered to pay $4,000 restitution and provide ten hours community service. An Alford guilty plea is entered without admitting guilt.

 And, Andriana L. Ellis, 20, of Bowling Green, pleaded guilty in one case to false statement or misrepresent to receive benefits over $100. She was ordered to pay more than $4,431 restitution.

 Judge Janet J. Crocker presided.


 A Franklin man received a five-year sentence in Simpson Circuit Court on Monday, Jan. 5.

 James Lee Brixey, 30, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and possession of drug paraphernalia. Brixey was ordered to pay a fine and restitution totaling $1,220.

 And, Billy W. Taylor, 35, of Bowling Green, received a two year sentence and was fined $1,000. He pleaded guilty to theft by unlawful taking and was given credit for 156 days already served in jail.

 Judge Janet J. Crocker presided.


On Tuesday, Jan. 6, in Simpson District Court, Robert Simon Grimes, 31, of Auburn, pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs - second offense. Grimes was ordered to serve eight days in jail, pay a fine and court costs totaling $725 and his license and plate were suspended for 12 months.
