Get Active Simpson Challenge is Complete!
The Get Active Simpson Challenge which was sponsored by the Get Healthy Simpson Coalition, the UK Extension Office, The Medical Center of Franklin, The Simpson County Health Department and Franklin-Simpson Community Education had a total of nine teams that registered to participate in this movement to get our community more active. The nine teams were comprised of 72 participants who walked, danced, gardened and jogged a total of 6915.5 miles during the five weeks of the challenge! Members of the teams were both young and old, ranging from junior high school to senior citizens, proving that you can be active and work to stay fit at any age.
Thanks to the generous donations from area businesses, there were 30 prizes that were given to the participants who completed the five-week challenge. Items were donated by Burke's Outlet, Piggly Wiggly Grocery, The Brickyard Café, The Medical Center of Franklin, Anytime Fitness, Sheldon's Pharmacy, 4 Soils Café, IGA Grocery, Franklin Sporting Goods, Harvey's Gym and Garden Spot Produce. Thanks to all our donors for their support of the challenge. Each participant who received a prize was grateful for your donation. Congratulations to all the winners- both prize recipients and to everyone who increased their activity level for 5 weeks to gain better health!
