On Saturday, August 3, 2019, Joe Wayne Cline of Falls Church, Virginia passed away peacefully with his family at his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Viola Cline; his brother, Gerald L. Cline; sisters, Mahala Jane Smith and Linda Joyce Cline.

He was the beloved father of Joe Cline, Jr. (Deborah) of Sterling, Virginia and Cynthia Cline Reppert of Reston, Virginia; grandfather of Ryan Reppert, Jacob Cline and Kaitlyn Cline; brother of Mary Leslie McGee of Franklin, and many nieces and nephews.

He worked his entire life to provide selflessly for his family, always providing a strong sense of faith, love and moral compass. He will be missed immensely.

Originally from Franklin, he was a graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School and the Southern Academy of Clinical Technology.

After serving the United States Army for two years and receiving an Honorable Discharge, he continued serving the U.S. Army Reserves until he relocated with his family to Falls Church in 1962, where he began a distinguished 30-year career as a Medical Service Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency, earning the Intelligence Commendation Medal. He served in several assignments abroad in different capacities in the medical arena.

After "official" retirement, he continued to serve the Agency as a part-time independent contractor for 23 additional years, finally retiring at age 83.

He was the senior Deacon of his beloved Mount Calvary Community Church where he found true fellowship and friends who shared his love for the Lord. He was also a member of their choir and a member of the Brethren in Harmony Chorus who shared their music ministry all over the Virginia, Maryland, and DC area.

A viewing was held at Jefferson Funeral Chapel in Alexandria, Virginia on Friday, August 9. Funeral service was held the following morning at Mt. Calvary Community Church in Franconia, Virginia. Interment was in Schurtz Cemetery.
