Kenneth E. Simpson, age 87, of Franklin, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 10:11 a.m. at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 24 at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory with interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin with military honors given by the Simpson County Honor Guard.
Kenneth was born on September 26, 1935 in Bethpage, Tennessee to the late, Herman Bryant Simpson and the late, Carrie Beatrice (Brown) Simpson. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Billie Faye (Templeton) Simpson; and seven siblings, Lasco Simpson, Raymond Simpson, Bill Simpson, Junior Simpson, Elizabeth Braswell, Betty Jean Pearson and Eudean Pearson.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Edie Simpson; a daughter, Teresa Scotti (David) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; a step-daughter, Elisha Wiggins (Brian) of Central City, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Matthew Scotti, Molly Scotti, Lillie Wiggins and Charles Wiggins; two sisters, Lucille McCormick of Westmoreland, Tennessee and Sue Williamson of Gallatin, Tennessee; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Kenneth was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of Drakes Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Simpson County and attended First Baptist Church, Franklin. Kenneth was the owner of Kenneth Simpson Construction, Inc. for 54 years.
He enjoyed golfing, boating, traveling and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandkids.
Kenneth was very active in the community through the years. He was a former president of the Chamber of Commerce, a former president of the Rotary Club, a Paul Harris fellow, active in the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity, a member of the Franklin Country Club, a sponsor of many local youth sports teams, a Kentucky Colonel, and a supporter of St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.
