Michael “Mike” Carter, age 68, of Franklin, passed away, Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020 at 8:24 a.m. at Tri-Star Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Arrangements were under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 17 at Gilbert Funeral Home with burial in Providence Cemetery in Simpson County.
Mike was born on Sept. 6, 1952 in Franklin to the late Jesse Lee “Jake” Carter and Mary Frances Shepard Carter. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, David Carter and Mark Carter.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa D. Carter; two children, Michael Douglas Carter II (Samantha) of Columbus, Indiana and Matthew David Carter (Darby) of Franklin; three step-children, Ashley Geske of St. Paul, Minnesota, Bethany Geske of Thief River Falls, Minnesota and Kurtis Geske of Franklin; three grandchildren, Jackson, Jake and Jocelyn Carter; and two step-grandchildren, Blake Chervstad and Zachary Emberton.
Mike was a 1970 graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Simpson County. Mike was the owner of the Lone Wolf Truck, which he pulled in the Mid-South Puller Association and the Kentucky Tractor Pullers Association and he formerly pulled tractors. He was a former member and President of Franklin Country Club. Mike was a farmer, it was his passion, he loved to farm. He also loved to play golf and to go hunting.
