Larry “Brother” W. Burgett, age 71, of Franklin, passed away Monday, June 8, 2020 at 3:47 p.m. at Hopkins Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, in Woodburn.
A graveside service was held Friday, June 12 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
Larry was born on Sept. 29, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late William Ezra “W.E.” Burgett and the late Vallie Mae Hicks Shoulders. He is also preceded in death by his step-father, Virgil Shoulders and four brothers, Harold Burgett, Bobby Burgett, Richard Kent and Gordon Kent.
He is survived by four siblings, Faye Lawson of Franklin, KY, Doug Shoulders of Franklin, KY, Scotty Shoulders (Gaye) of Franklin and Carol Keen formerly of Franklin; 25 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and some great-great nieces and nephews.
Larry was a member of Liberty General Baptist Church in Franklin.
He worked over 50 years in the restaurant business and was enjoyed by patrons for many years. Larry worked at Ma and Pa’s, Old South, CC Diner, The Hot Plate, Mama Gentry’s, V & V Cafeteria, Wagon Wheel and Union 76 over the 50 years. He looked forward to talking to his customers at the restaurants he worked at.
Larry loved watching UK Sports, doing puzzles and to sing. He also enjoyed telling jokes to anyone he talked with.
