A former Franklin resident, James Leslie Vaughn, age 88, of Gallatin, Tennessee, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019.
Arrangements were under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where a memorial service was held Tuesday, Nov. 12.
A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Robert Smith Vaughn and Mary Leslie Stringer Vaughn. He married Wilma Lois Wade in 1951 who preceded him in death.
Vaughn was a graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School where he was the captain of the football team. He also attended Western Kentucky University and was a member of the ROTC. He owned the Pontiac dealership in Franklin and became a real estate agent and was a member of the Kentucky Real Estate association for over 50 years. Later in life he became co-owner of a country music publishing company in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He was a member of the Jaycees, Rotary Club and the Masonic Lodge Benevolent Lodge #177 as well as a lifetime member of Mitchellville First Baptist Church. He was an avid sportsman and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by a special man who was like a brother to him, Bernard Johnson Bryant.
Survivors include two children, Donna Vaughn of Franklin and Ricky Smith Vaughn (Debbi) of Bethpage, Tennessee; two grandsons, Ricky Smith Vaughn, II (Rhonda) of Gallatin and James Chadwick Vaughn of Portland, Tennessee; two great grandchildren, Reagan Rose Vaughn and Ryan James Vaughn. He is also survived by his long time friend, Robert "Butch" Rose.
