Summer Nights Concert Series
Andy and The Rockers will perform rock and roll hits Friday, Aug. 9 on the Courthouse bandstand from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. There is no charge to attend the concert that is part of the Franklin-Simpson Renaissance Summer Nights Concert Series. After Aug. 9 the remaining concerts this year are, The Get Down band performing soul, funk and blues on Aug. 23 and American Idol finalist Casey James performing blues, pop, rock and roll and country music on Aug. 30.
A mini market will be held Aug. 30 with vendors open from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The Gentlemen's Unlimited Club 2019 Unity Festival is Saturday, Aug. 10 at Lincoln Park beginning at 3 p.m. The festival celebrates the neighborhoods of Harristown, Newtown and Froglevel and the Franklin Housing Authority apartments, but is for everyone in the community. Inflatable rides, free hot dogs and soda for children are planned. School supplies and Kindles will be given away to students. Games with prizes include Cornhole beginning at 3 p.m., Spades at 4 p.m. and Bingo at 5 p.m. The Gentlemen's Unlimited Club will also be selling fish sandwiches. AARP Chapter #335 is having a meeting on Aug. 15 at First Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Lauren Tuttle of Graves Gilbert Clinic is the guest speaker. A covered dish luncheon and recreation will follow in the afternoon.
The next CSFP commodity distribution date is Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To participate individuals must be at least 60 years old, live in Simpson County and be income eligible. For more information, call 270-598-9986.
State Senator David Givens and State Representative Wilson Stone will be the speakers at the Franklin-Simpson Chamber of Commerce Legislative Luncheon on Tuesday, Aug. 27. The luncheon begins at noon at the South Central Kentucky Community and Technical College Franklin Bank Room. Tickets are required and are $20 for chamber members and $25 for non-members. Toilet Paper Drive
American Legion Post 62 and the Auxiliary Unit 62 are hosting a Toliet Paper Drive for Good Samaritan of Franklin. To make a donation, drop toilet paper off at the Good Samaritan office on Main Street near the Roxy Theatre before noon Monday through Friday.
