Stone will not seek another term

Longtime Kentucky State Representative Wilson Stone is not planning to seek reelection next year. Stone made the announced official on Nov. 7.

"I've had some health issues. I'm doing fine now. I think it's time for a change," he said in regards to his decision.

Stone, who is a Democrat from Allen County, has plans to fill the rest of his current term, which runs through Dec. 31, 2020.

He is currently serving his sixth two-year term and will have served 12 years when his current term ends. He was first elected in 2008 and began serving in the state house in January 2009.

Stone is currently serving on the state house appropriations and revenue, agriculture and banking and insurance committees and previously served as chair of the tobacco settlement over sight committee, vice chair of the education committee and on the economic development committee. He is also a former House Minority Whip.

Stone represents the 22 State House District, which consists of all of Simpson County, all of Allen County and a portion of southern Warren County.

The filing deadline is Jan. 10 for the May 2020 Primary Election.
