The Franklin-Simpson EDGE Academy is offering an Aquabots Camp to students who have completed grades sixth, seventh and eighth from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 10-13, 2019.

"Kids are challenged to step out of their knowledge base, learn new applications and apply it," said Robin Hollingsworth, director of Community Education. "It's both challenging and rewarding when the process meets success."

According to the flyer the camp invites students to explore the world of underwater robots combing science and technology. Students will solve scenarios based on real-world challenges using LEGO MINDSTORMS and programmable robots.

Students will design, build and deploy robots that can explore a coral reef, investigate a sunken ship and collect samples.

Hollingsworth said the camp helps students learn the value of problem solving, patience, teamwork and perseverance.

Registration is $50 per student, is non-refundable and includes a t-shirt, snacks and lunch. All checks need to be made out to Simpson Co. BOE/Aqua Bots. Deadline to register is Friday, May 24, 2019.

Anyone interested must submit their payment along with an application to Community Education, 430 S. College Street.

An application can be found at Scroll down to find workshops and events.
