Cooking with kids

A cooking with your kids event is taking place on Sept. 5 at 5:30 p.m. at the Culinary Classroom located behind the F-S High School in the vocational building, 400 S. College St. To RSVP, contact the Simpson County Extension Service at 270-586-4484 at least one day prior to event.

Auburn Community Blood Drive

The next Auburn Community Blood Drive will be at the New Friendship Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall, 5030 Friendship Road, Auburn, Kentucky from 12-6 p.m. on Friday Sept. 6. The event is sponsored by Church Women United. For more information call 1-800-RED CROSS or text auburn19 to schedule an appointment.

DAR meeting

The Simpson County Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will meet on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 1:30 p.m. at the new Simpson County Historical Society facility located at 207 N. College St. The speaker will be Justin Mitchell, History teacher at F-S Middle School. For more information, contact Lu Ann Ferguson at 817-291-7034.

4H recruitment night

The Annual 4-H Recruitment Night is Sept. 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Farmer's Market Pavilion located at 304 N. Main St. in Franklin. All 4-H clubs will have a table set up for potential and returning members to d meet club leaders and other 4-H members. Youth ages 5-8 can enroll in the Cloverbud 4-H Club while youth ages 9-18 have fourteen different 4-H clubs to choose from. Some youth join one club while others join two or three. In addition to the Cloverbud club, there is also a 4-H community club, an afterschool club at Lincoln Elementary, a 4-H Relay for Life Team, project clubs for cooking, sewing, photography, art, shooting sports, horse, poultry, STEM, & outdoor adventures, and a club for teens called Adulting 101. Some clubs have a limited number of spaces so be sure to stop by 4-H Recruitment Night to sign up, or contact the Extension Office at 270-586-4484 or email cwebster@uky.edu with questions.
