Fourteen members of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity at Western Kentucky University stopped in Franklin on July 3, during their bike trip to raise money for Alzheimer’s Awareness and research. The group left WKU on May 13 and drove 50 hours to San Francisco to start the 3,600-mile bike ride. They will end the trail on July 20 in Virginia Beach. Max Benningfield (front), team leader, said not including expenses along the way they have raised $50,000 for Alzheimer research. Benningfield said they have events coming up in Elizabethtown, Lexington and Louisville to raise money along with an online donation at bike4alz.org.
