Franklin Police say an attempt was made to use a counterfeit $100 bill at Hibbett Sports on South Main Street on Sunday, Aug. 25.
Officer Timothy Summers report said the man trying to use the counterfeit bill was questioned about it by a store employee and then took the money back, left the store and got in the back seat of a vehicle.
The vehicle left at a high rate of speed.
The report said nothing was taken from the store.
The incident happened at about 4 p.m.
Franklin Police arrested a Clarksville, Tennessee man in connection with the recovery of stolen property.
Gary Gunnels, 37, was charged with third degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking from building $500 or more but under $10,000 and third degree possession of a controlled substance - drug unspecified.
Franklin Police Officer Robert Mathews arrested Gunnels on Friday, Aug. 23.
The offense report said stolen property including a four-wheeler, a dirt bike, chain saw and safe were allegedly recovered by police during execution of a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Montague Street last Friday.
The report said the items were allegedly stolen from a garage in the 300 block of Witt Road on Aug. 22 or 23. The theft was reported to police just before 8 a.m. on Aug. 23.
The arrest citation said Gunnels also allegedly had medication not prescribed to him in his possession when he was arrested.
An arrest on a charge of sexual abuse has been made stemming from an alleged incident on Tuesday, Aug. 27.
John Leslie Melton, Jr., 28, city of residence not listed on arrest citation, was arrested Wednesday, Aug. 28.
Simpson County Sheriff's Office Deputy/Detective Cory Jones arrested Melton.
The arrest citation said the alleged victim was a female juvenile.
Franklin Police arrested a Cave City woman on two drug possession charges after responding to a call from a truck driver about a disturbance on Reasonover Drive.
Danielle Logsdon, 38, was charged with possession of a controlled substance - cocaine and possession of marijuana.
The arrest citation said Ms. Logsdon was allegedly in possession of a joint with marijuana and a vial with residue identified as cocaine.
Officer Timothy Summers made the arrest on Friday, August 23.
A Franklin man faces a charge of sexual abuse stemming from alleged incidents involving a female juvenile.
Franklin Police arrested David Malone Williams, 46, on Aug. 23.
The arrest warrant said the alleged incidents occurred during 2018.
Franklin Police Detective Zachary Duke obtained the warrant that was served by Detective Canaan Scott.
