With the unfortunate turn of events connected to the COVID-19 pandemic, Franklin-Simpson Renaissance has suspended the 2020 Summer Nights Concert Series for June and July.
“If state and local government gives us a green light, we will host two free concerts in August on the Simpson County Courthouse lawn,” F-S Renaissance Executive Director Amy Ellis said. “We regret that we have had to cancel the concerts we had planned for June and July, but the safety of our community comes first.”
Franklin-Simpson Renaissance has hosted the Summer Nights Concert Series for over 25 years for the F-S Community and this is the first interruption in the series.
“We are thankful to our loyal sponsors: Franklin Bank & Trust, Franklin Precision Industry, Kentucky Downs and Simpson County Tourism for their support of the series again this year. We had several of our crowd’s favorite bands returning to Franklin this summer. We are really going to miss our vendors and of course our listeners who attend the music series on Friday nights,” Ellis said.
If the Summer Nights Concert Series is able to resume in August, the bands slated to perform are Tyrone Dunn & Kin Foke on Aug. 14 and Bueler’s Day Off on Aug. 28.
Franklin-Simpson Renaissance also hosts annual events such as Boofest, the Cherry Blossom Art and Music Festival and Small Town Christmas in conjunction with other community-based organizations.
Renaissance works with the Franklin Downtown Merchant’s Association on projects promoting economic growth in the historic downtown district and offers grants to building owners to promote economic development downtown.
