Simpson Fiscal Court approved second and final reading of two ordinances at its Jan. 4 meeting.

The ordinances include one that adds $232,168 in revenue and spending to the county budget.

The revenue and spending includes $214,168 in federal CARES act funding to cover county costs associated with the pandemic and an $18,000 AHIDTA federal grant to help address illegal drug trafficking.

The other ordinance rezones 2.56 acres on the north side of Tyree Chapel Road and southeast of I-65 from industrial to agriculture.

The Franklin-Simpson Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the zone change.

Approval was given to a food service contract for the Simpson County Jail with Kellwell Food Management.

The 2021 budgets and maximum salaries for the Simpson County Clerk’s Office and Simpson County Sheriff’s Office were approved.
