A Franklin man died following a shooting on Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Franklin Police say Brian Russell, 43, was taken to The Medical Center at Franklin and then loaded into a Vanderbilt LifeFlight helicopter to be transported to another hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to a press release, at approximately 6:13 a.m. Franklin Police responded to a complaint of shots fired near the area of Green Street and Portland Avenue.

While canvassing the area officers heard someone yelling for help from 504 Portland Avenue.

Officers located Russell inside the residence with gunshot wounds.

The Franklin-Simpson Ambulance Service then transported Russell to the local hospital.

No other information has been released.

The investigation led by Franklin Police detectives is considered ongoing.
