Priceless IGA in Franklin has installed plexiglass barriers in front of the cashiers in its checkout lanes.

“It is just a safe guard for our cashiers, it is a sneeze guard incase people are sneezing or coughing,” said Leslie Gregory, store manager for the Franklin Priceless IGA. “It keeps them from direct contact because the grocery store is a place everybody is flocking to.”

IGA is also keeping the store as clean as possible and the cashiers all have hand sanitizer at their stations as well as in break rooms.

“We come in every morning, clean all the carts, wipe all the handles down and try to keep everything stocked for our customers as well as we can do,” Gregory said.

Gregory said the store’s plan is to keep the barriers up until after the virus scare is past.

Other stores in Franklin like, Piggly Wiggly, are also taking precautions amid the virus outbreak. Dale Haley, store manager for Piggly Wiggly, said they are cleaning the store thoroughly before opening and several times throughout the day.

“We have been doing our cleaning, that is about all we can do,” Haley said.

Walmart was not available to return a call in regards to store precaution measures on deadline.
