The Simpson County Board of Education approved resumption of athletic activities following Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) COVID-19 return to participation guidelines during its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, June 18.

Simpson County Schools Superintendent Tim Schlosser says the approval means the school system is not going to create its own policies and start doing different things.

“It will give our coaches and players guidelines to follow as we return,” Schlosser said.

Also approved were the Code of Acceptable Behavior and Discipline, the Pupil Transportation Procedures and Handbook for School Bus Operations and four fundraisers.

The board approved all of the approximately 25 items it was asked to consider for approval and heard more than 10 various reports.

The board of education’s next regular monthly meeting is July 16.
