The Franklin City Commission heard first reading of a rezoning ordinance and approved revisions to the Franklin Police Policies and Procedures Manual at its meeting on Oct. 12.

The ordinance rezones four acres at the intersection of Brown Road and Highway 1008 from B-4 (Highway Business) to I-2 (Heavy Industrial).

The Franklin-Simpson Planning and Zoning Commission recommended the zone change, which is a correction to the zoning at the site.

No vote is taken on first reading of a city ordinance. The ordinance must pass a second reading city commission vote and be published to take effect.

The ten revised policies in the police department’s policies and procedures manual are for continued accreditation with the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police.

John Thompson was sworn-in as a Franklin Police officer.

Franklin-Simpson Planning and Zoning Administrator Carter Munday gave an update on planning and zoning office activities and Bicentennial Committee Chair Lisa Deavers gave an update on the city’s Bicentennial relay run.
