Members of the Kentucky Soybean Association elected officers for 2015 during the board meeting held in Bowling Green on January 15.
Mike Burchett of Calloway County was elected president. A grower of soybeans, corn and wheat, he has been on the association's board since 2007 and has been active in the legislative affairs of KSA, serving as chairman of the legislative committee for several years.
Jed Clark of Graves County was elected vice-president. Clark grows soybeans, corn wheat and tobacco. He was elected by his peers to serve on the association board in 2011 and has moved up the ranks in leadership.
Larry Thomas of Hardin County will serve as secretary for the upcoming year. Also board member since 2011, Thomas owns and operates BLT Farms near Elizabethtown.
New to the officer team this year is Fred L. Sipes of Meade County. Sipes grows soybeans, corn, tobacco and wheat in addition to running a cow/calf operation.
Other directors include Dennis Clark of Sedalia, Keith Tapp of Sebree, Davie Stephens of Wingo, Gerry Hayden of Calhoun, Ryan Bivens of Hodgenville, Caleb Ragland of Magnolia, Mike Fouts of Bowling Green, Ben Westerfield of Hopkinsville, Eric Sweazy of Bloomfield, Allen Pace of LaCenter, Craig Roberts of Princeton, Scott Bridges of Cadiz, Brent Gatton of Bremen, Barry Alexander of Cadiz, Jeff King of Corydon, Jason Strode of Owensboro, Tim Thomas of Sturgis, Jonathan Miller of Island, Ray Hughes of Auburn, Andy Alford of Bowling Green, Brennan Gilkison of Winchester, Chris Kummer of Franklin and Andrea Williford of Clinton.
A dues-driven organization, the Kentucky Soybean Association is one thousand members strong. The association works for its members, and all soybean farmers in the state, through advocacy, policy and education to increase soybean profitability.
