Literacy Center recognizes National Corrections Officers Week

National Corrections Officers Week took place May 4-8, recognizing the contributions of correctional officers and personnel who work in jails, prisons and community corrections. “The staff that the Detention Center has, has been so supportive of our ‘Stories from the Heart’ program,” Simpson County Literacy Center Executive Director Dana Patterson said. “We have had to suspend this program because of the quarantine, but we wanted the officers to know that we are so thankful for what they do and how difficult their jobs must be right now especially.” Patterson said Andrea Morgan reached out to her with the idea.
