Several local organizations and businesses have been planning for the annual Back to School Bash for the 2020-2021 school year in Simpson County.

The co-sponsors of the event are UK Cooperative Extension Service, Boys & Girls Club of Franklin, Franklin Business and Professional Women, Franklin Simpson Family Resource & Youth Service Center, German American Bank, Franklin Church of Christ and Burkes Outlet. With the Covid-19 pandemic creating limitations to socializing and group gatherings, this year’s bash will be held as a drive thru school supply giveaway. The Back to School Bash, which serviced 400 students last year, will furnish grade appropriate school supplies to any Simpson County registered student in Kindergarten thru 8th grade. The Back to School Bash will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Franklin-Simpson High School bus loop at 400 S. College St. in Franklin. Parents or guardians and students are asked to enter the bus loop from College Street and follow the signs.

School supplies and monetary donations are being accepted now through Aug. 7 for the Back to School Bash. Drop off locations include German American Bank, Burkes Outlet, Boys & Girls Club of Franklin, Simpson County Literacy Center, Gilbert Funeral Home, Bray Eyecare, LifeSkill’s, Inc., Shoe Sensation, Main Street Ink and McCutchen Electric.
