Downtown Merchant Rebel Heart Co. has recently changed locations, settling into 115 W. Cedar St.
Owner Victoria Woodard credits the businesses growth as her reason to move from her former location on Main Street.
“I needed more space,” Woodard said.
Woodard started the business in September 2017 doing barn shows, eventually moving to booths inside The Mustard Seed and in Cross Plains, Tennessee. In July 2019, she moved to the Main Street location.
“[Owning a business] is something I have always wanted to do, I can’t remember not wanting to do this,” Woodard said.
She said she sells mostly women’s clothing, accessories and shoes. Since she is in a bigger space, she plans to expand, and include a wider range of clothing and possibly home décor.
“I’m looking at what I can offer Franklin that someone else doesn’t,” Woodard said.
She loves being in the location of the former Moore’s Drug Store and The Frozen Spoon, she said. She remembers walking home from school and stopping at Moore’s to get a coke. She loves being able to talk about the building.
“It’s comfortable, it feels like home,” Woodard said.
In the first week she was already seeing more foot traffic come-in and some shoppers who hadn’t heard of her store before, she said.
She said her next step is to turn one of the bathrooms in the back of the building into a fitting room.
The stores hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays.
“I get to see people I haven’t seen in forever,” Woodard said.
