Kiwanis of Franklin Simpson is a volunteer service organization committed to the well-being of the families and children of Franklin. We sponsor family friendly, family oriented events such as the annual Christmas Parade.

Since December of 2008, Kiwanis has been spreading the joy of the season with the annual parade. Various community, civil organizations, churches, businesses and individuals have participated through the years. We select a theme and entries are encouraged to somehow incorporate the theme into their submissions.

This year’s parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 1 p.m. This year’s theme is “It’s a Bicentennial Christmas in the park.” Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s parade will be held at Jim Roberts Community Park, rather than on the downtown square. To allow for social distancing, as well as other precautions, the format will be a drive thru style.

“We had to comply with the current Governor and CDC regulations, but still wanted to be able to provide the community with a event to kick off the Christmas season,” said Kiwanis of Franklin-Simpson President Darryl Murrell.

Entry forms for the parade can be obtained at the Franklin-Simpson Chamber of Commerce, Gallery on the Square, Goodnight Library & Charlie’s Electric. Please contact Stephanie Downey at or by calling 757-513-9545 if interested in participating.
