A Bowling Green man died in a traffic collision on I-65 in Simpson County Friday morning.

Brian E. Lowe, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Simpson County Coroner.

Kentucky State police say the preliminary investigation indicated that Lowe was operating a 2008 Ford pickup southbound on I-65 across the overpass of Highway 100 at exit 6 when his vehicle left the right shoulder of the roadway.

State police say the pickup truck traveled down an earth embankment and onto the entrance ramp of I-65 from Highway 100. The truck overturned on the entrance ramp and struck a parked commercial tractor and trailer.

The collision happened at 6:20 a.m.

The investigation is still ongoing and being conducted by Trooper Mike Hatler. State police personnel, Franklin-Simpson Ambulance Service, Franklin Police, Franklin Simpson Fire-Rescue, and the Simpson County Coroner assisted at the scene.

No other details have been released.
